Never known as a prolific passer. Certainly not high on the all time accuracy charts, with a career 53.8 completion percentage. Hell, in six NFL seasons (one plagued with injury), he only threw for 71 touchdowns. Tom Brady threw 50 touchdowns in one season (albeit a record that may not be challenged for many years to come, it is important to keep in mind).
Passing was not the thing that kept our eyes glued to the big screen on Sundays and Monday nights when Michael Vick and the Atlanta Falcons took the field. It was Vick's elusiveness, his all out raw speed, his instinct to find the open hole, his ability to avoid tacklers. In fact, these are the exact same reasons we as football fans are still so obsessed with this athlete. Yes, Vick has spent two years in federal prison; yes, he will always be labeled as a convicted felon; yes, his crimes and lies will never be forgotten. BUT, neither should his raw instinctual talent. That "football instinct" is not something that cannot be taught to a young kid playing in pop warner, nor is it something that can be lost after being locked up for two years. Michael Vick was the premier athlete in the National Football League only three seasons ago; there is no reason to believe his talent has diminished to the point that he will not start another NFL game as QB1.
